Full job description: A legal writer's responsibilities vary depending on their specialization. Their duties may include:
* Researching local and national laws, legal precedents, past legal cases or other relevant information and data
* Explaining complex legal topics or regulations in simplified language through writing
* Composing official documents such as contracts, wills, leases or settlement agreements
* Outlining, drafting, editing and proofreading their written pieces
* Consulting with or interviewing witnesses or legal experts
* Thinking up a different viewpoint or angle for a familiar legal topic
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist clients in drafting and editing professional and technical evidentiary statements, business and communication plans.
- Responsible for organizing files, answering client questions and other daily tasks.
- Conducts professional and in-depth research and analysis as required by writing assignments.
- In-depth knowledge of legal and business issues to write thought leadership articles worth discussing.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding procedural and case handling issues and assist in reviewing cases.
- Assist in editing and proofreading legal and business written documents.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in English/Journalism/Communications, Master's degree preferred.
- Professional level communications research and analysis skills.
- Must have a detailed approach to handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Excellent English writing and editing skills.
- Mandarin speaker preferred, but not required.
